We are a fencing (swordfighting) club based in Exeter whose aim is the study and practice of mediæval fighting. This is commonly known as Historical European Martial Arts, or HEMA.

 

Based on the teachings of early 15th Century manuscripts, we translate the techniques into Western Martial Arts, recreating the authentic tactics and strategies of the past.

 

Our club mainly trains Italian longsword , but also one-handed sword, sword and buckler, dagger  and staff weapons as well as unarmed combat.
